HSL C175: Retrofit for Chubb® Cell Lock 4L55 / 4L56
by Andreas Laudy
HSL C175: Extremely robust - reliable handling
The HSL C175 lock was specially developed for high security environments in prisons, police and the military. It can also be used as a 1:1 replacement for old Chubb® cell locks 4L55 and 4L56 due to its identical dimensions.
The lock is either flush-mounted or surface-mounted, has an extremely robust design and is fully made of stainless steel.
Unlocking is achieved by turning the key which enables the withdrawal of the main bolt by the handle. The bolt is then retained automatically when fully retracted and the door is out of frame. Locking is achieved automatically on closure of the door - the snib bolt releases the main bolt. Deadlocking occurs when the main bolt is fully extended allowing the blocking mechanism to engage.
The lock supports single action (Mark 3) and double action (Mark 1) and master/group key function that enables the master key to lock up to 18 different subgroups. Each subgroup has its own group key.
The main features of HSL C175:
- High security lock, inside and outside made of stainless steel
- Visual display of the locking status
- 50 mm stainless steel key guide optionally with tamper protection
- HSL double-bit locking mechanism made of special bronze, maintenance- and spring-free
- Extremely robust 32 mm stainless steel bolt with saw protection, offically tested up to 50 kN transom shear force
The HSL C175 is available now. Matched accessories are available in the STUV Prison Solutions accessories programme.
